SATI

Currently there is no legislation in South Africa forcing translators or other language practitioners to belong to a national body such as SATI. SATI is the South African Translators' Institute. Many freelance translators choose not to be members of SATI, for their own reasons. All South African translators are encouraged to join SATI, however. Visit their web site at http://www.translators.org.za/.

The Gauteng chapter of SATI has their own web site, at http://home.global.co.za/~jtrocki/trans/.

Fédération internationale des traducteurs (FIT) is an international federation of translators' associations with member associations in nearly 50 countries throughout the world. Visit their web site at http://www.fit-ift.org/.
